How to share Observer filters
Sharing your filters allows OMS to provide the filters to any Observer installation.
For Observer to share filters through OMS, the following must be configured first:
OMS must have Share filters with OMS selected in the Global Asset Policy.
Each participating Observer must be a managed asset in OMS.
If creating and editing shared filters is desirable, the user accessing the Observer asset must be in a user group whose authorization policy allows full access to shared filters. If the user group does not have this permission, its users can use shared filters but never modify or delete them.
If you have configured Observer to share filters with OMS, there is an additional folder added to Observer’s multi-filter selection dialog where shared filters are to be kept.
To share Observer filters:
1. In Observer, click a connected probe instance to select it.
2. On the Home tab, in the Probe group, click Filters > Configure Software Filter.
3. Drag a filter to the <Shared Filters> folder.

4. Click OK, then click OK for the prompt that appears.
5. Click Synchronize.
The filter you selected is shared with OMS. Now other Observer installations can use this shared filter.
On your other Observer installations, you must right-click inside the Active Filters window on the Home tab, in the Probe group, click Filters > Configure Software Filter and select Synchronize Shared Filters. This allows you to download all new or modified shared filters.
